4 Ways to Make Next Year Your Best Year |
|
Hello Friend,
The school year is over, but if you're like other teachers, you're probably still thinking about the lessons, the students, the classroom, the colleagues—all the things... including the things you'd do differently next time.
That's not restlessness. That's experience doing its job.
Here are four ways to put that experience to good use before next school year arrives. |
|
|
1. Make Your Wish List |
|
While this year's needs are still fresh in your mind, take a few minutes to write them down. Whether you're browsing Amazon, checking your local stores, or shopping at Teacher's Discovery, building a wish list now means you'll be adding to it while your needs from last year are still fresh in your mind.
Share it with your community, your family, your network. You might be surprised who shows up for you! |

2. Plan to Start Strong |
|
If you're heading into the classroom for the first time this fall—or just need a fresh start—the new teacher starter kits are a great place to begin. Each one brings together classroom-tested tools and resources designed to help from day one. Plus, each kit includes a special training video with our Training Director, Justin Slocum Bailey, offering tips on how to use the resources. Explore these kits on the website:
And if you're a teacher looking to spend less time planning and more time connecting with students and establishing rewarding routines, the Back-to-School Bundles for Spanish, French, and German pull together some of our most popular resources for the first week and beyond. Want to boost enrollment while you're at it? The Engagement Essentials Bundle is built to help you fill seats and keep students coming back.

3. Learn Alongside Other Teachers |
|
One of the most powerful resources any teacher has is another teacher. Remember that this summer, and consider these two events happening in July that will connect you with other teachers and "fill your cup" with community and inspiration!
The CI Summit (July 15–17) in Cincinnati brings together language teachers from around the country to share ideas, learn from one another, and build the kind of professional community that makes the work feel less lonely and a lot more possible.
The Voces Summer Workshop (July 27–29) is a free virtual event for Voces subscribers packed with practical strategies, curriculum insights, and inspiration for the year ahead. Three days, no travel required. If you're not a subscriber, you can get a teacher subscription for just $100 and enjoy the workshop plus a year of Voces! |

4. Take Care of Yourself |
|
Whether July finds you on a beach, in a garden, traveling with family, or quietly starting to think about August, take a moment to acknowledge what you've done this year.
Teaching is hard work. It's also some of the most important work there is.
Everything you did this past year—it mattered. It shaped someone's future in ways you may never fully see.
Enjoy your summer. Recharge. Rest.
And when you're ready to start planning again, we'll be here with resources, support, and a community of teachers who get it! |
